Questions, Young Life

Where are you?

I got this picture from a YL camp speaker a few years ago.  He suggested Leaders use it to start cabin time conversations. He promised we’d be surprised by how well it initiated deeper conversation with high schoolers.  I was skeptical, I mean it’s a dumb picture of a bunch of kids climbing a tree.  But he was right.

There are probably a few different ideas or questions that could accompany this picture.  Here’s one of them:

Which kid in the picture describes where you are in life right now?  WHY?

  1. Sam, I think that it’s awesome that you blog. I have recently gotten into it blogging myself, and I think that comments are always a great show of support.

This picture seems like it can describe all people at every different walk of life. Of course, you can interpret this however you would like. God, careers, relationships, the list is literally endless. Recently, I have been lacking in my ability to use my faith. I have been so lethargic in what I have been doing that I have not been using his word for my guidance when it is such a valuable resource. So in this case, I am the kid sitting on the lowest branch of the tree dozing off.

My life is a whole different story however. I am a fighter, but I am still at the bottom. It is very frustrating, but I know that eventually I will make it to the top of the tree like the kid all the way of the top. That is why I am all the way to the right climbing. Sure, I could take the ladder if I wanted to, but I can never take the easy way out. It’s not the type of person I am.

    I hope this helps!
