I’m doing a lot of writing these days. And not just graduate school papers. (Although I’m writing a lot of those, too!) If you’re interested, look here, here, and here.
Concerned (and reminded by my mother) that Sam’s Storybook is becoming the neglected stepchild of my writing, I’m going to start posting shorter, more frequent ponderings here. Far from conclusive or final thoughts themselves, these will be short snippets of things I’m wondering about, ideas I’ve come across, or thoughts I’m still in the process of formulating. Sam’s Storybook will be my sort of Pondering Play Place. I hope you’ll join me and contribute to what happens with these ideas, beyond the bounds of this blog!
Today’s ponder: Hospitality isn’t always doing the inviting. More often hospitality is saying YES. Even - especially? - when you’re inclined to say no. Is becoming a more hospitable person (or community) really about creating space to say yes?

Welcome Back!!! Yes, I agree with your thoughts on hospitality. I find it easier to say no but when I say yes, I am usually surprised by my enjoyment of whatever event I say yes to!
